Acorns/Seedlings - The Changing Season

Service Description

During the Growing Home class “The Changing Season” our smallest children, Acorns (0-3) and Seedlings (3-5) will take to the woods each week for a full sensory experience. Depending on the weather we may: - carry our children (back carriers and soft carriers recommended, but an off road stroller will work) and talk with them about the wonders of the forest, stopping to feel a tree or hear the wind along the way - walk at a toddler/preschooler pace allowing them to see and touch the wonders of nature at their level - stop at an interesting location and let sitters, crawlers, walkers, climbers, and jumpers move their bodies and explore as they see fit - read a quick story, play a game, sing a song, and/or do nature art We ask that caregivers take an active role in modeling your own sense of wonder about nature for your child. We also make time, as children explore, to discuss adult caregiver topics ranging from words in the woods and making nature part of your everyday routine to answering your own questions about bringing more harmony to your home using techniques from Montessori philosophy and positive discipline to support your child’s development. Come prepared to get dirty and dress for the weather. In this program we are flexible in regards to potty/diaper stops, and we will make time for a mid-program snack break. There is no inside space available for bathrooms or water so please come prepared. Programs would only be canceled in the event of extreme weather.
